Yesterday, at Sony's TGS press conference Square Enix unveiled Left Alive, produced by Shinji Hashimoto and directed by Toshifumi Nabeshima. Now more details of the game has emerged courtesy of Weekly Famitsu (via Gematsu).
As many suspected the game is set in the same universe as the Front Mission games, more specifically it is set between the events of Front Mission 5 and Front Mission Evolved.
What's interesting is that while this is a game with mechs or Wanzers, you'll mainly play on foot and face them as enemies (you can steal one, however). The game is going to be level-based, but it seems the developers have taken a sandbox approach to designing them allowing players different options and routes. The survival theme is supported by the ability to place traps and crafting. There are three main characters that you'll switch between as you progress the story.
We expect to see more footage from the game as Tokyo Game Show kicks off tomorrow.
