While having the creative powers of Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski at the helm, Lawbreakers didn't manage to meet either the developer, Boss Key Productions, nor publisher Nexon's expectations. A little while ago, Nexon blamed the failure of the game on the success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Either way, the publisher has now suffered from a round of layoffs following a less than ideal return from its investment.
In a statement given to GamesIndustry, Nexon assures that the layoffs are routine, but the same article says, that one-fifth of the entire workforce of the company's American branch has been let go. Additionally, key members of the team, including community manager Alexis Henson, QA leads Robert Campbell and "Jordy Gamer Girl", and influencer relations manager "Miss Murder" have all announced their departure through social media.
The statement says that this restructuring will allow Nexon to "streamline operations and reset the organisation to pursue a deeper focus on our most promising titles."
