It was back in 1983 that Konami released Hyper Sports, an arcade game and the first in a series that later became known as Track & Field in the west. Now they are back with the same concept again in Hyper Sports R for the Nintendo Switch, which is releasing later this year.

As you might expect there will be plenty of different events, but so far only three have been revealed. These are track and field, swimming, and volleyball. Hyper Sports R offers a campaign where you can put a team together from over 20 characters and help them win medals and big competitions. There will be both classic controls (which we hope means button mashing like the good ol' days) and motion controls for a more casual approach.

The first trailer and 16 screenshots from Hyper Sports R can be found below. Are you looking forward to some old school arcade sports games again?
