When it comes to mobile battle royale games, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Fortnite and PUBG Mobile are the two major players when it comes to this area, but a new report from Sensor Tower shows that one game has actually beat the pair of them when it comes to revenue - NetEase's Knives Out.

This game garnered around $465 million USD worldwide last year, beating Fortnite's $455 million, according to Sensor Tower's data. The game is incredibly popular in Japan, with nearly 80% of the game's revenue coming from Japanese players, who spent around $370 million on Android and iOS (over 11 times more than what they spent on PUBG Mobile).

The game received a Tokyo map as of November, so we can imagine its popularity in Japan isn't going to dwindle any time soon, and with in-app payments available in China as well - something PUBG Mobile doesn't do - that should also help. After all, Chinese players made up around 18% of the revenue, which equates to $81 million.
