NBA 2K have announced that 2016's NBA Rookie of the Year, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns, will be the cover star of the MyNBA2K17 app.

"I've been a dedicated NBA 2K fan since I was young, and being selected as the face of MyNBA2K17 is an incredible milestone this early in my career," said Karl-Anthony Towns. "Playing MyNBA2K and NBA2K is an essential part of my off-season and keeps me grounded during the season with all my travel. I love that I will have the opportunity to connect further with my fans through MyNBA2K17".

The companion app is set to launch on September 8 on iOS and Android and allows the players to connect with their console version of the game. There are a variety of features available such as face simulation technology, giving fans the chance to bring their face to the console versions of the game via the mobile app. It also includes the NBA 2K themed card game, MyTeam Mobile, a mode allowing players to collect player cards and challenge competitors across the world, as well as special events.

The app also gives players the ability to earn virtual currency for the console version of the game, shop for console items, buy and sell cards on the MyPLAYER store and also watch 2KTV any time.
