A few weeks ago, the Lionsgate boss teased that the Ana de Armas-led John Wick spinoff, Ballerina would be coming in summer 2024. Well, following John Wick: Chapter 4's continued success at the box office, Lionsgate has now locked in a firm release date for the film.
As reported on by Deadline, the film will be premiering on June 7, 2024, and to add to this, a bit of extra plot information has been revealed as well.
We're told that de Armas' character is an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma, and that the film will see a few familiar faces from the franchise making their return, including Keanu Reeves' Wick, Ian McShane's Winston, and the late Lance Reddick's Charon, which each suggest that this film will serve as more of a prequel, as Chapter 4 did look to tie up a lot of these charcater's storylines.
We're also told that the film will see Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus making their Wickverse debuts, and that John Wick director Chad Stahelski will be attached as a producer on the film, while Len Wiseman directs.
