Never give up. That's the lesson learned from the historic win Rory McIlroy achieved at the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, one of the four major championships in golf. Northern Irish Rory McIlroy, 35, has won his fifth major, after 11 years of drought: he won PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014, US Open in 2011 and the British Open in 2014.
The championship ended in a thrilling sudden-death playoff after McIlroy wasted all the advantage he had at the beginning of the final and allowed his rival Justin Rose to tie with him. The play-off was short, and when he finally won he dropped to his knees and cried uncontrollably.
Pundits and spectators described the final as one of the most exciting of all-time, and everyone is cheering and applauding McIlroy for his persistence in achieving his goal, winning all majors, something that only five other golfers had achieved before: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods. McIlroy is the first one from Europe to do so.
