Blizzard recently posted some job openings on its careers website that imply that they might be working on a new first-person shooter.

Posted by NeoGAF user Nirolak, the listing shows three jobs for an unannounced project. All the opportunities are based at Blizzard's HQ in Irvine and don't appear to be mobile games, as other positions already exist for unannounced mobile games at the company.

The first listing is for a lead software engineer to work on 'a robust first-person engine' stating that the ideal candidate should have 'experience working on first-person or other action-oriented games'.

The second is also for a lead software engineer, and explains the project in more detail calling it 'an unannounced project that utilises a robust first-person engine'.

Finally, the third job is for a senior technical animation artist and states it's for someone with 'experience with games that use a first-person perspective'.

So what does all of this mean? Is Blizzard really working on a new first-person game? It seems more likely that this could be in relation to some form of Overwatch expansion or possibly even a proper single-player campaign. There is every possibility, though, that after the huge success of Overwatch, Blizzard is planning on releasing more first-person shooters, as it clearly has a foot in the genre by now.

This news come shortly after Blizzard announced a new map for Overwatch in the form of Horizon Lunar Colony; you can watch the trailer for that below. Let us know what you think, would you like to see a new IP from Blizzard or a story mode for Overwatch?
