Iratus: Lord of the Dead hitting Early Access this summer
The tactical RPG from Russian studio Unfrozen will launch on Steam in 2019, and there's a new trailer letting you see it in action.
Inspired by 2016's indie hit Darkest Dungeon, Iratus: Lord of the dead is a fantasy RPG where you play on the dark side. The developers at Unfrozen are attempting to take the turn-based gameplay and visual styles from their inspirations, and work at eliminating any tedium that may exist in the genre.
Players have access to more than 50 different skills, which further develop into three upgradeable categories: alchemy, magic and tactical. The game also incorporates crafting opportunities, which allow you to utilise the bodies of your dead foes to create minions.
The new trailer, which landed on February 19, shows off some slick-looking animated cinematics alongside a dark tone and 2D visual perspective, certainly keeping it in line with the games that inspired it. Currently, the game is coming to Steam, but the developers have stated that they are looking at console releases further down the line, which could also factor in them creating different control methods for PC.
Iratus will launch in Early Access in the summer, and 2019 is the time frame given for the full release, depending on how the Early Access version gets on.
