InXile - developer of the Wasteland series and member of Xbox Game Studios - has released a post on Fig detailing how the development of Wasteland 3 is progressing. The update states that "we've been hiring and growing the company, as well as putting a lot of the new Microsoft development resources to good use, and that's going to help us be able to make Wasteland 3 even bigger and better".
Wasteland 3 is to be set in the savage, frozen lands of Colorado, where a happy outcome is never guaranteed. Players will have to navigate the incremental weather, environmental hazards, and ruthless combatants in order be the leader the people need for survival.
In the update, the developer shared some insight into how they go about creating the world of Wasteland, and how they came up with the design for MacTavish, a mechanic with a luchador mask. Images of the concept art, early models, and even a full detailed 3D coloured model of the character's head was shown, which is supposedly "not too far from what you'll see in-game".
Although the post adds that "there's still a megaton of work left to go", it did wrap up by saying "we'll have development updates to share during E3, so look forward to our next update with more specifics then".
