Unrailed is an experience that takes inspiration from couch co-op games like Overcooked, as explained by Indoor Astronaut's lead programmer Lukas Rahmann when we caught up with him at GDC (Game Developer Conference) not too long ago, and here he elaborated on what the core of the game is all about.
"Unrailed is like a cooperative multiplayer game where you team up with some friends and try to build a railroad against time and keep your train from derailing," Rahmann said. "You have to build a path ahead of time, you have to think what happens next [...] you need to micromanage yourself, and your friends as well."
"If your friends don't play with you, then actually your friends can, instead of helping you, be a burden and you don't succeed in what you want to do, and so the game gets hard. I think with four players it's a lot of fun because you just scream at each other a lot of times, like 'why are you doing this?', 'do this', 'help me here', all these kinds of stuff."
The aim is to release the game in Early Access on Steam this summer, and for more on Unrailed check out the full interview below.
Does this look like a good co-op experience?
