Swedish indie outfit Image & Form had their first major hit with the digging sim/platformer SteamWorld Dig (originally released on Nintendo 3DS), eventually it got released on a lot of other platforms including PS4 and Xbox One. They followed it up with the sidescrolling turn-based strategy offering SteamWorld Heist, but now they're back to their digging ways with SteamWorld Dig 2.
The developers offer this pitch:
"Grab your pickaxe and dig into this sequel to the award-winning SteamWorld Dig, a platform mining adventure forged in Metroidvania flames. In search of her lost friend, a lone steambot and her unlikely companion must dig deep, gain riches and explore an underworld riddled with danger."
Image & Form aren't revealing a ton of details, but say they'll be talking more about how they're using the Joy-Cons and the HD Rumble soon.
The game will debut on Nintendo Switch this summer, and presumably it will make its way onto PC, PS4, and Xbox One soon thereafter. Perhaps it will also make it onto Nintendo 3DS.
