Hyrule Warriors All-Stars confirmed for 3DS, trailer within
Tecmo Koei spoils the surprise ahead of E3 reveal. Wind Waker in, plus Wii U unlocks.
Who said Nintendo were safe when it comes to pre-E3 leaks? The following video, 100% official (it was published by Tecmo Koei), unveils one of their best kept secrets:
Indeed, we're talking about a new Hyrule Warriors game, but this time for the Nintendo 3DS handheld and titled Hyrule Warriors: All-Stars.
Similarly to the successful crossover for Wii U, this relentless army-action game combines Dynasty Warriors franchise mechanics with elements and characters from The Legend of Zelda universe.
The trailer makes it clear that the new version will include the quick-character-switch feature on the touch screen, something that users of Samurai Warriors: Chronicles have already enjoyed on 3DS.
This entry means the battlefield debut of playable characters from Wind Waker, such as Tetra the pirate and the King of Hyrule (who, in one special attack, fittingly turns into King of the Red Lions).
It's also worth noting that both combatants can be unlocked on the Wii U game by those who purchase All-Stars for 3DS.
It has already been confirmed that The Legend of Zelda Wii U won't be at next week's E3. So despite being a spin-off, this will be the only Zelda-related presence at the show.
As the leak begins to circulate, the official announcement from Nintendo must surely now be just around the corner, either this afternoon or during next Tuesday's E3 Direct presentation.
