Hollow Knight is a metroidvania that has been available on PC since near the beginning of the year. It looks like a great fit for the Switch, where it was supposed to land before the end of 2017. This, however, is no longer the case.

It turns out that the title will not reach Nintendo's hybrid console before 2018, a difficult but inevitable decision for Team Cherry, who doesn't want to release a sub-par port of the game, as they explained on their blog.

"We've been working hard to get it all polished up and ready (while working on the new content in the meantime), but last week, we took a moment to do a proper assess and decided that we should give it a bit more time. We both (Ari & William) want to ensure this version isn't just an okay port, but a great one, and our partners at Shark Jump agreed".

We'll just have to wait until next year to enjoy this charming 2D title and its hand-drawn visual style on Switch. Are you disappointed by this delay?

REVIEW. Written by Sam Bishop

"It provides the timeless fun and exploration of a Metroidvania, while at the same time giving it a lick of paint to bring the genre into the modern day."
