As the final rounds of regular season play of the third ESL Pro League season played out yesterday, the playoff picture for the league is now set. Four teams from Europe and four teams from North America will face off in London next month, competing for a prize pool of over half a million dollars.
On the European side, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis, Fnatic and G2 Esports finished the regular season in 1st to 4th place respectively. Notably, G2 Esports had clinched the tie breaker over Na'Vi to secure 4th, a highpoint after the team's recent struggles.
From North America, Luminosity Gaming, Cloud9, Optic Gaming and Team Liquid will head to London to fight in the playoffs.
The playoff stage begins on May 12, with the eight teams being split into two groups of four. The groups will play as GSL-style minibrackets, with the top two teams from each moving on to the semifinals. The playoffs conclude on May 15.
