Helldivers shows off ice, cyborgs and reveals meta game

Arrowhead Game Studios's Johan Pilestedt have taken to the PlayStation Blog to reveal some new details on cross-play title Helldivers. In addition to the Starship Troopers inspired bugs we are also facing cyborg enemies who are rebelling against their creators. The screens show off ice environments (in addition to the desert maps previously shown, there are also jungles in the game). The game will also have mechs.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the Helldivers concepts is the global meta game, and Arrowhead finally revealed some solid details on this front.

"The entire community wages an intergalactic war played out over four to six weeks (we are still tweaking the exact time frame), every victory and every defeat impacts the war which can be either won or lost, depending on the efforts of you - the community.

Whether you're cooperating with your two to four person squad or fighting steadfastly alone, you choose the mission that matches your capabilities. Rise through the ranks and earn new weapons and perks or save entire planets for that most valuable asset: the Stratagems."

Helldivers is set for release "later this year".
