Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the augmented reality game from the developer of Pokémon Go, is aiming for a release in the second half of 2018, as Niantic CEO John Hanke revealed in an interview with Financial Times.
"The wizarding world of Harry Potter takes places in a familiar world", said Hanke. "It would be much more difficult to create a convincing Star Wars game in augmented reality".
An exact release date is not yet known, although Warner Bros. and Niantic announced the collaboration last November. In the game players will learn spells, explore their neighbourhoods in the real world to discover and tackle powerful enemies, and team up with other budding wizards on their journeys.
