343 Industries' Bonnie Ross opened up Microsoft's E3 press conference, and the first game on show was, unsurprisingly, Halo 5: Guardians.

It was confirmed that pre-orders are now open for the next entry in the series, and after that minor revelation we were treated to some gameplay footage featuring Edward Buck (from Halo 3: ODST and played by Nathan Fillion) and Jameson Locke as their team was, controversially, chasing after Master Chief.

We got a glimpse of the new four-character team game, with the player issuing orders to their squad, pointing out targets to their teammates, and move through the world as a cohesive unit. We also got to see the new dash attack and the ground pound moves, both of which will be familiar to anyone who sampled the game during its beta at the end of last year.

The action took us through a Covenant environment as the four-strong team were chasing after Master Chief, and while there was Covenant foes, there was also Promethean enemies on hand to battle through. We even got to see new Promethean ships that we'll be able to fly. Check it out for yourselves in the campaign gameplay trailer attached below.
