GFTO has the potential to be an excellent team-based horror shooter. The game by 10 Chambers Collective drops you deep under the surface of a planet with up to three other people, sneaking past swarms of otherworldly creatures whilst occasionally going loud whenever the poop hits the fan.

While GTFO focuses heavily on cooperation, it's also looking pretty sharp from a technical perspective. Indeed, back in June, Ulf Andersson from 10CC talked to us about the fact that the shadows cast by your enemies can only be seen by the light of your flashlight. They're taking it seriously, then, which is why recently, at the Unity Developer Conference, it was announced that the game would also boast a new feature designed to bring even more immersion: the CineCast.

It's a dynamic camera system in development over at Unity that connects the first-person camera with certain environmental viewpoints. The new system is built on top of the existing Cinemachine technology, and should hit beta in early 2019. Using the system the game evaluates the potential shots and creates real-time gameplay cinematics using the assets it has available.

The hope is that players will be able to use the tools to create cool in-game content in GTFO and others when the tech is rolled out more broadly, and judging from the fun that players have been having with in-game camera tools recently (Spider-Man's photo mode springs instantly to mind), it could well prove to be a savvy move.

To learn more about the tech will be used in GTFO, take a look at the Unity presentation by heading here, and of course read our hands-on preview for even more on this promising co-op shooter.

Update: The original article suggested that the CineCast feature was made for GTFO, but it's actually an initiative backed by Unity and GTFO was merely selected as the first game to showcase the feature. The text has been updated to reflect that.
