We met up with producer Linda Kiby in the Paradox "library" to find out more about the recently announced cold war era grand strategy offering of East vs West: A Hearts of Iron Game.
"People have been asking us for a long time when we're going to do a Cold War game. And since we have the team that made Arsenal of Democracy, we thought they did a good job during that game, so we asked them if they wanted to do it. And they were excited..."
The threat of mutually assured destruction was key to the Cold War era, and naturally it will feature in the game as well:
"We do have a DEFCON level and a doomsday clock so you start with DEFCON 5, and then as threats increase you move over to DEFCON 4, 3, and 2, and when you have DEFCON 2 you have everything available to you except for actually using nukes. That is not going to be available until you start to be on the losing side, then that opens up."
