Team 17 has revealed that Golf With Your Friends has joined their games label, meaning they're now a creative partner in the development of the Early Access title on PC as well as a publisher.
This works similarly to when they helped co-developer Overcooked 2, although this marks the first time they've come on board with a game that didn't first launch via their label. As you can see on the Steam Early Access page, the game already has seven courses with 18 holes each, but Team 17 will help expand the content and polish it further.
Debbie Bestwick, MBE, CEO of Team17, said: "What Blacklight have achieved so far is a great accomplishment for such a small studio. By opening up Team17's development resources to them, along with our franchise expertise, we look forward to growing and building the game into a franchise that can be enjoyed by many millions more across many platforms in the future."
"Golf With Your Friends is a game our internal development studio highlighted they would like to become involved with, I'm excited to see what this partnership brings. Like Worms and Overcooked, Golf With Your Friends is a game best played multiplayer. It's a unique situation in terms of sharing our resources with a game that is already launched in Early Access, but we are seeing more of these opportunities where we can help studios like Blacklight realise their ambitions."
"As a small studio we couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with such an incredible partner like Team17, with their vast history and experience. We always envisaged a much bigger universe for the game, and Team17's resources and expertise will allow us to reach the true potential for Golf With Your Friends. This is great news for our community and players who have supported us over the past few years and we at Blacklight Interactive are excited to be a part of this adventure with Team17 by our side," added Kailan Clark, CEO of Blacklight Interactive.
A brand new trailer can be seen down below, as well as some screenshots from the Early Access page. Is this a good partnership for Team 17?
