Rod Fergusson, studio head at The Coalition, was one of the big-name developers who took to the stage during Microsoft's E3 press conference this evening, and while he was there he revealed release dates and pre-release info about the studio's upcoming game, Gears 5.
After building trust with Gears of War 4, Fergusson says the studio wants to do new things that we've not seen in the series before, with more news coming in the summer.
On July 17 players will be able to try out the Versus Multiplayer Tech Test, and there's a new game type coming called Arcade. Later, at Gamescom from August 19, players will be able to sample the all-new Horde mode and the new character abilities that come with it. Then, the following month, we'll be able to tuck into the biggest campaign in the series' history.
We also got to see Escape, an all-new mode that turns the Gears formula up to 11 (we're paraphrasing, but you get the idea). Check that out in the trailer below.
Gears 5 will launch on PC and Xbox One on September 10, although you can play the game four days early by either buying the Ultimate Edition or by subscribing to Microsoft's newly announced subscription service, Ultimate.
Oh, and they also teased the following pre-order incentive, the Terminator Dark Fate Character Pack. Check it out below.
