Galactic Civilizations III

Galactic Civilizations III officially announced

Stardock confirms PC sequel is on the way.

Stardock has just confirmed that they're working hard on Galactic Civilizations III. The game will be appearing exclusively on 64-bit PCs, and will continue in the tradition of the the series' 4X roots.

Once again players will be tasked with heading up a space-based civilisation, and expanding their empire across the galaxy, dealing with those that cross your path.

There's already a Founder's Edition that players can pay for now, which will grant early access to the beta, and a Founder's Elite Edition that costs $99.99 and includes all future DLC and the opportunity to name a star in the game.

"The move to 64-bit architecture heralds a new era of game development at Stardock," said Stardock's Derek Paxton. "The technology allows players to experience a level of graphical detail and on-screen activity unprecedented in large-scale strategy PC games. It dramatically increases the size and scope of the maps, and opens the door for modders to add a virtually unlimited amount of new content to the game."

No firm dates have been announced as to when eager players will be able to get their hands-on the strategy sequel.
