The headline feature of the beautiful open-world racer, Forza Horizon 2, was the chance to abandon the asphalt and drive through, well, pretty much everything (cultivated fields, woodland, vineyards) in order to reach your destination, which made for really fun free-roaming and event racing around the Southern Europe-inspired map.

And it's off-road racing that features in Playground Games' first not-only-cars DLC. The developers thought they needed a more extreme environment, so they created a separate space - Storm Island - with both extreme weather conditions and challenging terrain. Not your typical Mediterranean coastal drive.

Surprisingly, they kept this content a secret until now, and the expansion only launched today for €/$19.99 (€/$9.99 for VIP members). IGN has the following details on the new content and there's a new trailer available if you want to see more.

6 New cars (1985 MG Metro 6R4 Group B, 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR4, Mini All4 Racing X-Raid, 2013 Robby Gordon #7 Speed Energy Drink Stadium Super Truck, Ford Ranger trophy truck, 1976 Ford Fiesta), plus new Barn Find (new hidden car).
New Storm Island map.
Over 80 New Events.
New Extreme Weather
New Ramapage Mode
New Gauntlet event
New Playground Arenas, new Bucket List and a new car meet
New Xbox Live Achievements.

Stay tuned to GRTV for some Forza Horizon 2 Storm Island gameplay very soon.

REVIEW. Written by Gillen McAllister

"Even if it drops down a few gears after a fantastic opening, Playground still offers one hell of a road trip."
