We've known for some time that Fortnite's launch on Android would avoid the Google Play Store, having been rumoured for a while, and now Sensor Tower reports that the Play Store is going to miss out on a lot of money from Fortnite opting for another route.

The game is currently out in beta form on Android, and you can download it exclusively via Epic's own website. By doing this, Sensor Tower claims Google will miss out on at least $50 million USD in platform fees for the remainder of the year, unsurprising given that the game has made $180 million so far on iOS devices, where it has been since March. Sensor Tower also adds that they estimate Apple has made more than $54 million from the game so far through its 30% cut of the in-app spending in the store.

What do you make of Epic's decision to avoid the Google Play Store?
