Fortnite, the upcoming sandbox/base defense/builder game by Epic Games, has lived a life of near-radio silence occasionally interrupted by a few new details emerging. The game was revealed more than three years ago, and since then Epic has only talked about it on a handful of occasions.
But the game is definitely still happening, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney tells Game Informer. The game is currently taking a backseat to their upcoming MOBA Paragon, but Fortnite will be their focus once that's released, he says.
"We shifted a lot of resources over to Paragon to get that out in an awesome state," he says. "We figure we should start with one major successful launch and do one at a time. Fortnite will be next."
"Fortnite is moving ahead full-speed," he says. "It's a game with awesome and complex RPG type systems, and a really interesting meta game around it. It's a game that takes time to get right. It remains a huge priority for Epic, and expect more news to come out over time."
