Final Fantasy XIV's director, Naoki Yoshida, has been talking about some of the games that he'd like to make if he had the opportunity, and it makes for interesting reading.
"I would like to make a battle royale game. I have some ideas to do that. I have some ideas to make that type of game fun," Yoshida explained to Gamespot (via a translator).
Given Yoshida's background in the MMO business, it's tempting to speculate how he would innovate in that space and what his ideas might entail. However, the man from Square Enix doesn't just want to make a battle royale, he's also got a couple of other projects that he'd like to make and play before he shuffles off this mortal coil.
"As an online game designer, I would like to make an MMORPG from scratch without any limitations or restrictions. Removing all those kind of restrictions, I would like to make one MMORPG that fits the current trend before I die."
As for the games of others, Yoshida also mentioned that "I would also like [to play] Diablo 4."
Yoshida-san's interviews always make for interesting reading, as you can see for yourselves in our chat with him last year when he mentioned, among other things, a rather unusual way of relaxing after a hard day's work making MMOs. You can find out what and much more right here.
