The latest Inside the Vault post for Fallout 76 has given us an insight into the first seasonal event the game has received since its launch in November, which is called Fasnacht Parade. As you'll know if you've found the mask in-game, it's certainly a spooky one, and here is the context for the bizarre celebration:

"Each year, since the founding of Helvetia in 1869, the townsfolk celebrated Fasnacht by donning fantastic masks and parading through the decorated town. The festivities culminated by burning an effigy of Old Man Winter on the bonfire to signal the end of winter. The townsfolk may be long gone, but dutiful bots have kept the party rolling every year—and they welcome your participation!"

What this means in practice is that - starting on March 19 - there'll be a limited-time event quest available for a week in which you talk to the Master of Ceremonies in Helvetia before helping the robot shopkeepers set up the parade. This includes playing music on stage, choosing decorations, getting rid of pests, and even getting Protectrons together for a march. Some party poopers might arrive though, and you'll have to see them off.

If you do well in this event and the marchers survive, you'll get a mask depending on how well you do, as pictured in the images below. Masks can be traded, and some are rarer than others, so there's every reason to try your hardest for the best masks in town. There are even Fasnacht camp plans too.

Elsewhere Patch 7 is coming this week, containing the first batch of Wild Appalachia content, like the Brewing and Distilling crafting systems and quests alongside bug fixes and balance changes. Full patch notes are due soon, but we already know that the durability of energy and heavy weapons is getting increased alongside their damage.

For heavy and semi-auto energy weapons the condition damage they take per shot has been greatly reduced, meaning they'll last four to five times longer in the case of the former, with the latter lasting twice as long. Semi-auto energy weapons are also getting a damage boost of 10%.

High rate-of-fire automatic heavy weapons have had this rate-of-fire reduced, but damage output is again increased by 10%, with all other automatic heavy weapons increased by 10% to 20% in damage. Automatic ballistic heavy weapons last four times longer now as well, and Bethesda adds that they're planning improvements in the future in terms of the weight of heavy weapons.

Patch 7 is bringing camp and workshop budget adjustments too, meaning some objects like turrets and lights have had their budget space reduced, although there's now a maximum amount you can place, with the amount used and available made clear in the build menu.

"There are several important aspects of C.A.M.P. and Workshop budgets we must keep in mind when making adjustments, including how objects are used by players, overall structure balance, and even game performance. While the above changes aren't a direct increase to budget size, they should give you more overall budget space to build lots of cool stuff, while also allowing us the flexibility to further refine and improve balance and performance."

"C.A.M.P. Placement Adjustments: Occasionally, when we bring new content to the game, it may need to be placed somewhere that was previously usable as a C.A.M.P. location. We can't have C.A.M.P.s and quests occupying the same space and while we do our best to limit these cases, sometimes it's unavoidable," Bethesda adds.

No-build zones are also coming with Patch 7 and beyond, and those who have already got camps there will be notified when the changes come, as well as being given a free camp placement.

Lastly, challenge tracking is also getting tweaked so that a tracking interface is added to the map, allowing you to see your challenges in a clearer way. You can select and add them to the tracker manually, so you can keep track of your progress.

Are you more excited for the Fasnacht celebrations or Patch 7?
