Lionhead and Microsoft have announced that the 4 vs. 1 Fable Legends will be released as a free to play title. Not in the traditional way but more in the same vein as Killer Instinct or League of Legends.

That means the game will in fact be free to play with no barriers holding you back and not being forced to buy content, nor will there be purchasable content to give you an edge in-game. But your heroes will change every second week.

There will be four to choose from at all times, but they'll be constantly replaced. If you want to continue to play as a character you've levelled up, you can just wait for them to return (with XP and equipment intact), or you can purchase them outright.

There will also be an in-game currency to unlock characters with, while cosmetic additions will also be on sale if you wish to personalise your crew. All of this also applies to the villain.

A story mission and different scenarios are also promised, along with other updates. All of these will be free as well.
