To celebrate the release of The Emoji Movie, King will be hosting a major colour-matching event in Candy Crush Saga. Since the game will be featured in a small scene in the film, it is only natural that players will get to get something out of the equation too.

In the movie, Bof, the main character, remains stuck on the game screen and needs to be 'swiped' to regain his freedom. Players of Candy Crush Saga will have to do the same and use strategies to make their way through five complex levels and help Bof to escape from the game board. Players will in turn receive several rewards.

"It's exciting to know that Candy Crush Saga is going to make her cinema debut in the The Emoji Movie this summer. This is all the more exciting as we have succeeded in transposing the action and the film's light-hearted atmosphere from the big screen to the smartphones' screens, offering a series of levels inspired by the film", explains Sebastian Knutsson, Chief Creative Officer at King. "This is a unique integration for us - we've adapted the Candy Crush Saga game board for the first time, incorporating characters from The Emoji Movie and creating a gaming experience that mirrors that seen in cinemas, as players take on a series of challenges to free Gene from the Candy Kingdom."

This event will last for 48 hours and is spread over two weeks: from July 27th to 28th and from August 3rd to the 4th, unsurprisingly matching the movie's release date in the US. Europeans will have to wait a little longer.
