Evo 2019 is getting a Super Smash Bros. Melee side event

Melee's exclusion from the main lineup raised a few eyebrows, but it won't be totally absent from the event.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might be the king of the castle right now, breaking signup records for Evo 2019's tournament, but Melee still has an active community, which is why its omission from the lineup surprised and disappointed many.

If you're missing Melee don't worry though, as we know that a Melee Side Event is coming to the Mandalay Bay on August 3, with a side channel hosting the action from 16:00 to 18:00 (00:00 BST the next day, 01:00 CEST).

"That's right, Melee is back in the prestigious Mandalay Bay once again as a side-event for the community! Newcomers or seasoned veterans are welcome in this tourney," the event page reads, before telling us it's coming to the BYOC area on the expo floor. Players will need to bring their own controllers and equipment though, and it's $10 USD to enter the Singles, with all money going back to the prize pool.
