Evil Genius fans will no doubt be over the moon to hear that Evil Genius 2 is officially in development, as Rebellion has announced a new iteration of the game making "super-duper clear, this is not a remaster". The British team is focusing right now on PC, but they're not ruling out other options for the future.

The project is in early stages, as development started this spring, which is why there are more ideas of what it's not that what it is in the presentation letter. "Evil Genius 2 will be a fully-fledged sequel and it won't be free to play," the letter reads, also revealing that it is built in the in-house engine Asura.

In the letter Rebellion also explains why it took so long see a sequel of the first game. At the beginning, they wanted to go with a crowdfunding campaign, but now the have enough money to self-fund this project thanks to the success of Sniper Elite and other IPs.

Take a look at their text, but unfortunately there's nothing of the game to show you. Have you been hoping for a sequel?
