After revealing the Fall Skirmish not too long ago, Fortnite developer Epic Games has now detailed the competition ahead of its October launch, from format to prize pools and how to get involved.

"Beginning in October, we're opening up inclusive competition, where everybody can play and compete," the post reads. "To make that possible we've had to harden and scale our systems and infrastructure. For example, August was Fortnite's biggest month yet, with 78.3 million of you showing up to play. This exposed weak points and allowed us to make targeted improvements to critical systems, such as stats and servers. The Summer Skirmish also, as you all probably noticed, highlighted problems with performance and spectating, which we've been working on ever since. We're excited about kicking off the new competition system and we'll have details dropping in the weeks ahead."

Epic adds that the team will be iterating on broadcast tools and formats, using the information to help with future competitive events as well as the Fortnite World Cup.

We also find out that Epic has invited over 500 community creators and competitors, dividing them into five distinct Clubs, with each player representing one Club for the whole six weeks of the competition. These Clubs are Fort Knights, Lucky Llamas, Dusty Dogs, Rift Raiders, and Bush Bandits, and they'll get points for each weekly Trial and high skill event based on the performances of their players. Also, on top of awarding prizes at each event, Clubs will get $4 million USD in prizes at the end of the series based on points earned.

Apparently there were a lot of lessons learned from the Summer Skirmish series too in terms of format, and Week 1 of the Fall Skirmish is starting today at 12:00 EST (17:00 BST) with Group 1 play, followed by Group 2 play at 16:00 EST (21:00 BST). Outside of Friday competitions there are also weekly Trials for selected members of the Clubs to compete in to earn additional points, with formats getting mixed up each week via subtle changes to Friday competition and more extreme changes to weekly Trials.

In terms of Week 1, we'll be seeing Hold the Throne Duos take place, where the Duo team with the most points at the end of six matches winning. Victories and eliminations count towards placement, and the top 10 at the end of the competition get prizes. Here is the breakdown of points:

VICTORY ROYALE: +3 POINTS
2ND-3RD PLACE: +2 POINTS
4TH-5TH PLACE: +1 POINT

8+ ELIMINATIONS: +3 POINTS
6-7 ELIMINATIONS: +2 POINTS
4-5 ELIMINATIONS: +1 POINT

HOLD THE THRONE (MOST ELIMINATIONS IN ANY MATCH): +2 POINTS

As for prizes, getting first place will give you $67,500 and 305 Club points, so it's worth trying your hardest since the money and points decrease down to 10th place. What's more is that the Duo who Holds the Throne at the end of all six matches will get an extra $50,000.

As for this week's Trial though, this will involve Club members getting into Squads to play on the default Squad playlist, and the group with the highest amount of eliminations in a single match from each Club will earn prizes and points. First place, is getting $45,000 and 325 points, so it's worth trying hard here too.

We also know a rough outline of the Friday competitions, as Weeks 2 and 5 will be Solos, Week 3 will be Duos, Week 4 will be Squads, and Week 6 will take place at TwitchCon. As for the Trials though, we don't know anything past the first week.

Epic will be continuing to update the blog with upcoming formats as they're revealed, and encourages those interested in joining one of the five Clubs to submit a short video clip on your social media channels illustrating your dedication to one of the Clubs using the hashtags included in the link above.
