Real Madrid are a team more associated with their traditional football rather than the virtual sport, but now Abacus News have reported that Real Madrid's Weibo account has revealed they're starting a Chinese esports team, based on FIFA Online 4.
If you're wondering what that is, it's based on FIFA but more like a spin-off, produced by EA Spearhead, published by giant company Tencent, and available on PC and Android. That said, the latest game is still in beta mode, but that hasn't stopped Madrid from signing a team for the game.
Of course this is far from the first team to enter into esports, especially virtual football, as teams from Manchester City to New York City FC and Paris Saint Germain have tried with FIFA, but this is slightly different given the focus on China.
Do you like that Real Madrid are going for Chinese esports?
