Despite missing out on the title in the Stage 1 playoffs of the Overwatch League, New York Excelsior has bounced back by making sure the title was theirs in the recent playoffs for Stage 2, after defeating Philadelphia Fusion in a tense grand final, earning themselves a bonus prize pot of $100,000 USD.

Some may have been surprised to see Fusion there at all, as they had to defeat London Spitfire to get to the final, and even won the first two games of the grand final on Route 66 and Lijang Tower. That was when Excelsior kicked it up a gear though, taking the next three games to complete the reverse sweep and make sure the title was theirs.

For more on the final make sure to check out the official website for the league. Did you expect this kind of grand final?
