PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of the emerging esports that are worth keeping an eye on, as we've already seen large-scale tournaments at Gamescom 2017 and the Intel Extreme Masters Oakland last year, and now IEM Katowice has just hosted another Invitational this past weekend, in which Avangar took home the title.

Avangar's win, which saw them take home $25,000 USD, saw them take on some of the biggest organisations in esports, including OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan, and Cloud9, but having won two out of the eight matches on offer, their spot at the top of the leaderboard was secured, with points being awarded based on kills and finishing spots.

It's worth noting that this event only featured original map Erangel, with new desert map Miramar being absent, a decision ESL said was made to create the most equal playing field possible.

Do you think PUBG's esports scene is getting better?
