It didn't all start smoothly for them though.

This past weekend saw the second cs_summit tournament from esports organiser Beyond the Summit take place in Los Angeles, and after four days of intense competition Team Liquid emerged as the winner, standing above the other seven teams to earn $63,750 USD and the trophy.

Newly revamped team North started the quarter finals in style, registering a 2-0 win over Vega Squadron, as did SK Gaming over Torqued and Cloud9 over heroic, but Liquid actually had a bit of a tougher time with it, losing a map against Ninjas in Pyjamas to win 2-1 before going on to lose 2-0 to Cloud9 in the semis, pushing them to the loser's bracket.

Then came their storming momentum through loser's bracket, as they beat Torqued, Heroic, and then SK Gaming 2-0 each to set up a rematch with Cloud9 one that started well, with back-to-back map wins on Train and Mirage. Although Cloud9 gathered to get a point on Cache, Liquid won the match and the title on Overpass, marking their first competition win as a team.

The first cs_summit tournament took place in April last year, also in Los Angeles, where SK Gaming lifted the inaugural trophy, but it seems they struggled to reproduce that success this time around. Were you surprised Team Liquid won?
