G2 Esports are one of the best European CS:GO teams in the world at the moment, having won competitions like DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017 and DreamHack Open Tours in 2017, but their player (and captain) Richard 'Shox' Papillon has now announced via Twitter that he may need surgery on his wrist to remove a cyst.

"Not the best news I had coming back at home. Right hand/wrist IRM result: Got a 2cm Kyst, probably going to need an opération, will know more about it Friday (specialist meeting)," he tweeted.

G2 are included in the lineup for the IEM Katowice CS:GO tournament between February 27 and March 4, so if Shox was to have surgery then this would rule him out of this, meaning G2 would either get a replacement or a stand-in - a less-than-ideal result given how important he is to them.

We wish Shox a speedy recovery.
