Earlier this summer, ESL announced the 'path to pro' for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players, a new way for European clubs to promote to the Mountain Dew League as an intermediate step before the desired ESL Pro League. Winners at different National ESL Masters will compete in a superior league next season. However, before that happens, they will meet in Madrid.

ESL Clash of Nations by Movistar is a new tournament that will debut at Madrid Gaming Experience, between October 27 and 28. First-year participants are Movistar Riders (Spain), PANTHERS (Germany), EnvyUs Academy (France), Team Kinguin (Poland), the team formerly known as Outlaws (SEEC - South East Europe Championship) plus the winner of the UK Premiership and two more teams representing the organising country.

Every match of ESL Clash of Nations 2017 will be broadcasted on television (at least in Spain, Movistar Esport channel on Movistar+ platform) and on Twitch.
