The PGL Major in Krakow was a tournament that threw a lot of surprises our way, but Gambit Esports have emerged as champions, defeating Immortals in the grand finals to earn themselves not only $500,000 USD, but also their first major championship win.

The grand final didn't start off amazingly for Gambit, however, as Immortals closed out the first map 16-4, however, they brought it back on the second map, Train, to win 16-11 and level the score. Their third match started off similarly, and they won 16-10 to seal off the championship for themselves.

It wasn't an easy road to the finals for either team, as there was top talent along the way. Astralis, for instance, came off the back of a win over SK Gaming to face Gambit in the semi finals, losing 2-1 in an exciting affair, whereas Immortals had to defeat impressive side BIG as well as Virtus.Pro, setting up a final not many would have expected.

Can Gambit challenge for more majors now?
