Esports organisation Rise Nation has announced that they are dropping their Overwatch roster, with David 'DeeJay' Goldman writing the following about the decision:

"We have come to terms on the release of our Overwatch roster as of today, June 1, 2017. We wish all of them the best of luck in their future endeavors. "

"As it stands today, we do not have any plans on creating a new roster and thus will be taking a leave of absence from the Overwatch scene. We would like to thank Activision, Blizzard, and the entire Overwatch community for their support and hospitality throughout our tenure. Although we are leaving, for now, we would welcome the opportunity to return to the scene at a future time."

The six players from the team are now free agents as a result of this, as well as manager and coach Justin 'Winlogon' Butt.

"Having one of the top NA teams and not having info on if we will be able to keep the team we currently have for the league isn't the greatest feeling," Rise Nation co-owner Kahreem Horsley said in an interview with ESPN. "So the lack of information about the [Overwatch League] is the biggest reason for us backing out, we feel at the moment it isn't in our best interest to keep paying out to a team monthly that we don't know if we will be able to keep around."

This isn't the first time the Overwatch League has caused concern among the Overwatch community though, as last month there were rumours floating around about a hefty franchise fee for the league, a rumour that Blizzard has responded to itself. That hasn't stopped a number of teams from releasing all of their Overwatch players though, including Team Dignitas, Splyce, and TSM.

How many more teams will we see back out of Overwatch esports?
