Misfits have taken home the trophy at the DreamHack Winter 2016 Overwatch championship, beating Fnatic in a thrilling final to claim the title.

In the semi finals Fnatic beat Ninjas in Pyjamas in a close 3-2 bout, with Scott "Custa" Kennedy using Zenyatta to great effect, however, they couldn't carry that success over to the final.

In the first round on Temple of Anubis, Misfits quickly took the first points with an impressive 2:27 to spare. Fnatic got a point on the second round, but Misfit's defence proved resilient. Despite strong opposition, Fnatic won the second point of round two and then won round three too, with Hafþór "Hafficool" Hákonarsonis using self-destruct to keep Misfits at bay.

Misfits dominated later on against Fnatic, however, on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, where they won on offence and prevented Fnatic from pushing the payload past the first checkpoint.

The final standoff happened in Dorado, where Misfit's Andreas "Nevix" Karlsson as Soldier 76 had a huge killing spree. The offence finally proved too much for Fnatic, and they won the last game with 1:30 to spare.

Misfits later posted on Twitter congratulating their opposition and celebrating their victory.
