Epic to remove Gunner Pet, refunding any owners

This man's best friend will be meeting its man's best end, in regard to time in the game client.

Epic has released a statement on Twitter detailing plans to remove a Pet recently added to the Fortnite in-game store. Gunner, a dog sharing much of the resemblance of Season Six's Bonesy, will be pulled from the title entirely with plans set in place to compensate anyone who purchased the cosmetic initially with a full refund and 200 extra V-bucks.

The tweet detailing the developer's decision read as follows: "We should not have released the Gunner Pet and apologize for doing so. Within the next couple of days, all purchases of Gunner will be refunded for the full amount of 1000 V-bucks as well as an additional 200 V-bucks and the pet will be removed from the locker."

Another post followed this one stating that anyone who refunded the Pet cosmetic before the "make-good" will see 200 V-bucks added to their account alongside an extra Refund Token to compensate.

Gunner isn't the first skin Epic has recreated recently for Fortnite, with lots of the Season X Battle Pass cosmetics being very similar in these regards. In this case however, Gunner is essentially the same as Bonesy, being identical expect slightly different coloured eyes and a marginal change in fur colour, in all truth the biggest change between the two was likely the difference in pricing.

Did you purchase Gunner before it was pulled from the game?
