Epic Esports Events has announced the first tournament in their new Dota 2 Champions League series. Created together with GRID esports, the first tournament is set to start as soon as April 3 with open qualifiers and will be held entirely online. With finals for the first tournament set for 11-12 April, teams will be looking to compete for a share of $25,000.
As it stands right now, this tournament is set to feature 20 teams, 15 of which have already been invited. The following five will be selected through the open qualifiers. The directly invited teams are:
With, Vikin.gg, Team Spirit, High Coast, and Hellraisers directly invited to the playoffs of the tournament.
Aside from this first event, the Dota 2 Champions League does also have at least an additional four other tournaments planned, each of which will be set in Europe's competitive scene. No date for these other events has been mentioned as of yet.
