E3 used to be about big game announcements but these days it's mostly about the leaks that happen in the build-up to the biggest event in the gaming calendar, and the latest one is a doozy.

We'd heard the rumours already, but publisher Bandai Namco went ahead and ruined their own party by unveiling Elden Ring, the next action-RPG by star studio FromSoftware, with the news shared in error over on their own site.

The game in question is the much discussed but previously unconfirmed collaboration between Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, and now the first few tidbits have been revealed ahead of E3.

"Elden Ring is a fantasy action-RPG adventure set within a world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin," stated the post on Resetera. "Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware's largest game to-date."

Beyond the tantalising prospect of a collaboration between these two titans of their respective industries, and the knowledge that it's From's "largest game to-date", there's the image below, which was shared over on Twitter.

Finally, we've heard that the game is heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. When that'll be remains to be seen, but we'll certainly see more of Elden Ring in the very near future.
