With Overwatch 2 being revealed at BlizzCon this year (we even got to play it, and you can read our thoughts on it here), we spotted some new faces during the trailer, and we just had to ask about these characters when talking with Executive Producer Chacko Sonny and Lead Writer Michael Chu in the interview below.

"So there are some big characters in the Overwatch universe that were featured in some of the stuff that we showed off today, and while we can't say too much about them, I think what we can get into is [that] they are really integral and important characters to the Overwatch 2 story," Chu said.

"The first one, there's Echo, who of course appeared in McCree's animated short. She has been recruited into the new Overwatch team for a reason [...] She has a skillset which is extremely useful to the Overwatch team, as you can see in the Rio mission."

"And then the other hero that I think you might be referring to is Sojourn, which is a character that we have been excited for for a very long time. She is an integral part of the Overwatch team. She was actually one of the earliest recruits into the Overwatch organisation, and she saw the organisation's rise and fall, she has relationships with many of the characters who are part of Overwatch, and we really feel like, in Overwatch 2, when she appears on the scene and when events catch up to her, she is an extremely integral and interesting character."

Are you a fan of Echo and/or Sojourn?
