Pro footballers get bored too. After having spent many weeks at home with more to come, the current state of the world has forced many to find any possible pastime and playing video games is one of the favourites for young people, even if they are rich and famous. This time, EA Sports takes the lead to create a new tournament involving 20 of the greatest football clubs around Europe.
The Stay and Play Cup is a FIFA 20 online tournament featuring the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joao Felix, Vinicius Jr. Cesar Azpilicueta, Justin Kluivert or Jesper Kalström. This is the full list of participating teams:
England: Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur
France: Olympique Lyonnais, Marseille, PSG
Germany: Dortmund
Spain: Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia
Portugal: Porto
Italy: AS Roma
Netherlands: Ajax, PSV Eindhoven
Sweden: AIK, Djurgården
Finland: HJK Helsinki
Denmark: FC Copenhagen, Brondby
Starting today at 5pm BST (18:00 CEST), EA Sports is broadcasting virtual football on Twitch. Pro footballers will play 90-minute games in a single-elimination knockout format with even-rate squads. The Grand Finale will be on April 19 and viewers linking their EA Account to the stream will have the chance to win FUT 20 rewards too.
The Stay and Play Cup is a charity tournament and EA will donate $1 million to Global Giving's Coronavirus Relief Fund and invites every FIFA 20 player around the world to donate for the cause.
