In this day and age it isn't unusual to see games released in poor states, only to be patched after the fact in an attempt to fix what should have been functional before it was sold to consumers. But if EA gets their way, Mass Effect: Andromeda won't be such a title.

In fact, they went as far as to say that they have the financial breathing room to delay the game if it doesn't hold up come deadline. This was stated by chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen during EA's financial meeting.

"We're willing to make moves in launch dates if we feel that it's necessary to deliver the right player experience. Our guidance assumes that Mass Effect continues to be in this [fiscal] year, but it gives us some flexibility that we might choose to move it either a week or three, or four, or five months if we have to based on what we want to make sure in terms of delivering the right experience to the players," he said.

"So no news on Mass Effect other that we continue to have it in our guidance and the moment that changes we'll certainly let everyone know."

If you're alarmed by this, don't be. This doesn't necessarily mean that they actually will have to push it, as Jorgensen also said that he's happy with the progress Bioware are making with the game.

"Our focus is on building great games, and right now Mass Effect is tracking extremely well, the game looks beautiful, and we're really pleased with its progress."

Mass Effect: Andromeda is expected to drop in March. Does this news worry you?

"There's enough of the series' DNA in there that fans will find this a worthwhile adventure."
