It seems that the market today is flooded with zombie games. Techland's Dying Light is, in that regard, just a name among others. That said, it seems to have really hit the spot, although that's little surprise as it scored well in our review. Since those early days it has also gone on to be a financial success.

This news comes via Techland, who told Videogamer that the game has sold over 5 million copies since launch. The number includes the combined sales from PS4, PC and Xbox One. The studio obviously regards this as a huge success. Dying Light's producer Tymon Smektala told the website that they were a bit surprised by the sales, even though they knew they had made a good game:

"So we knew that Dying Light is a good game, we know it's going to be successful, but that successful? We are in the 10 best-selling games in the US right now for the first half of the year, so tremendous success. More than 5 million copies sold."

Techland has not forgotten their fans, and new content is on the horizon, with The Following DLC launching later this year. It will be free to all Season Pass owners, and you can read more about it here.
