A brand new game published by Gameloft and developed by Sparkypants Studios (a team made up people who used to work at Big Huge Games, which made Rise of Nations) has been announced. Dropzone takes elements from both the RTS and MOBA genre and combines them into a fast-paced hybrid.

Players can choose from a number of different unique units to control at once, and will come up against other players in 1v1 matches set to last around 15 minutes. Mech units have lots of customisation options, which should allow for a good deal of variety in how you play the game.

In terms of gameplay, players are to compete to retrieve and recover cores from alien hives, or steal them from the enemy player's base. The player with the most cores by the end wins.

The game certainly looks like an interesting and unique mashup of both the MOBA and RTS genres, and we're interested in seeing where it's headed.
